EM1-4 pupils visited different parts of Loch Dunvegan and completed multiple activities. We learnt about tides in relation to the moon and sun as well as the basics of shore zonation. We demonstrated the water levels of different types of tides using hand gestures.
We also learnt the differences between living and non-living things. We created food chains and learnt about energy flow in nature. We encountered a feisty shore crab and a curious seal aka a secondary consumer came to say hello!
We read The whale And The Snail story and learnt that whales and dolphins communicate using echolocation. We collected rocks and shells to create a 3D story model.
We also learnt how to light campfires responsibly and cooked seaweed damper bread on sticks. We used sea lettuce and it was super yummy!
